As Rise Against Hunger Africa’s core support base has grown, various opportunities have presented themselves both in the form of partnerships and alongside various interests of our supporters. As an organisation we are passionate about supporting individuals and businesses who want to take up the challenge of becoming Hunger Champions on a creative or ongoing basis. This has lead to some life-changing campaigns alongside well-known events, giving focused calendar days or even business-championed projects.

Below are various campaigns that may allow you to get involved presently, or may inspire you and your business to partner with us on a new campaign.

ANNUAL CAMPAIGNS Our Annual campaigns are primarily centred around events hosted by us, alongside our partners, where you are able to get involved in various ways. These are the campaigns we have become best known for and grow in their success each year.

Mandela Day

In honour of Nelson Mandela’s call to volunteer action. We offer large scale corporate events across the country for Mandela Day. A highlight of our calendar with well over one million meals targeted.

To commemorate world food day Rise Against Hunger challenges professional and amateur chef’s to cook a meal to raise hunger awareness, taking a different format every year.

World Hunger Day

To raise awareness of the plight of hunger not only in South Africa, but globally, Rise Against Hunger Africa hosts various events to commemorate 28 May – World Hunger Day.

Originating as a charitable response to Thanksgiving in the USA, Giving Tuesday has become a global movement to share generosity and compassion. On and around the 28 November, we raise funds for a specific feeding programme.

GET INVOLVED CAMPAIGNS These campaigns offer you an opportunity to get involved. This might be to join a marathon or cycling race, raise funds in a specific way, or by signing your business up to join us.

Comrades marathon

For the third year running, Rise Against Hunger is an official charity of The Comrades Marathon. With over 100 runners registered to run for Rise Against Hunger, it is an excellent opportunity to raise funds and awareness around hunger in South Africa.

Amashova Durban Classic

The oldest road classic cycle race in South Africa offers a cycling opportunity for cyclists to become hunger champions. Although not an official partner of Rise Against Hunger Africa, cyclists have the opportunity to raise funds through our linked online platform.
